Panasonic disclosed a security breach

Panasonic the Japanese multinational conglomerate disclosed a security breach after threat actors gained access to its servers which containing sensitive data in November 2021.

On 26th November 2021 the company said in a press release “Panasonic Corporation has confirmed that its network was illegally accessed by a third party on November 11, 2021. As the result of an internal investigation, it was determined that some data on a file server had been accessed during the intrusion.”

The company mention that they have immediately reported the incident to relevant authorities and has taken step to prevent access to its external server.

“After detecting the unauthorized access, the company immediately reported the incident to the relevant authorities and implemented security countermeasures, including steps to prevent external access to the network.”

There further mention that they have taken support from a third party to investigate this attack.

“In addition to conducting its own investigation, Panasonic is currently working with a specialist third-party organization to investigate the leak and determine if the breach involved customers’ personal information and/or sensitive information related to social infrastructure.” Said Panasonic

According to the Japanese articles from Maninichi and NHK its reported that the threat actors had access server of Panasonic multiple times between June and November. They also mention that information on company’s technology, business partners’ data, and employees’ information has accessed by threat actors.
